The LAG Gallery committee met on September 13, 2018. The first thing we discussed was the
Gallery Mission Statement. It was decided that our mission statement should be: ” A place for Lincoln Artist Guild members to show their art”. We looked at the LAG mission statement and agreed that the gallery statement follows the same objective as the guild statement, The gallery statement simply codifies the role of the gallery within LAG. We thank John at Against the Wall for sharing his Gallery with us. In return we hope to bring some interest and new business to his workplace. LAG has a $25 annual fee for members to hang their art at the gallery in addition to the regular annual membership dues. Gallery fees go for advertisement and making upgrades to the gallery, Non gallery members are encouraged to visit the gallery and attend all the first Friday events. LAG members not wishing to display their art are welcomed/encouraged to support the gallery by becoming a gallery member.
The committee discussed some of the things we might do to improve our presence. Havelock is an interesting place, with lots of history and ambiance. It continues to function with the tradition of a small town even though it is bordered by Lincoln. On Thursdays the stores stay open till seven. We still need to clear this with John but we are hoping to change our first Friday receptions to First Thursday receptions with the hours five to seven. We will probably make the change in January if approved. Our next gallery meeting will be the second Thursday, October 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the gallery. The change date will be the third Thursday, October 18th at 10:00. I hope everyone gets time to visit and enjoy the art at Against the Wall Gallery and Frame Shop. Thanks, Will Rennick
